Interesting, but I was just told by people who run a private p2p sharing network of “CD quality audio” that this new format is garbage. They claim it’s really just using old, rehashed codecs. Plus, the files, because of their size, will crash many portable MP3 players out there that don’t expect that large a buffer requirement.
They recommend using an existing, standard MP3 encoder with the “–alt-preset extreme” parameter instead, for better overall results — or else sticking to a proven lossless format like FLAC.
