Wow. This is impressive: Microsoft released a new “Google sky” killer.. This is something you DON’T want to miss! It’s an interactive view of the sky like you have never experienced before. It shows changes in real time, has amazing tours, and is easy to use. Take it for a test drive and let me know what you think!
How about a projector that is built into a R2-D2 unit, with a Millennium Falcon remote control? Take a moment and see what obsession has done to to an incredible gadget. No Bull$hit. http://gizmodo.com/386007/r2+d2-projector-in-action-video-verdict-a-must-have
(thanks Lawrence for the heads-up!)
Wow, I just spent an hour of my life on this game, and I don’t mind one bit! This WILL drive you crazy, but it is also very satisfying to play. I dare you not to try it!

I decided to check out if new videos were posted and there are now 10 videos to watch. The first four are a must-see and you can find more about them on my previous post. The most useful one posted is for the patch tool.
Now my nightmares as a child trying to catch a pop-up don’t seem so bad..
Need a laugh? Here’s a site that will keep you laughing for a while. They have the top 50 posted with video for most of them. Below is one of my favorites.

I first heard about flash mobs about five years ago. One of the videos was of a flash mob assembling at a Best Buy store dressed like their help.
Here is a video of a freeze that was performed at grand central station. http://www.maniacworld.com/frozen-in-grand-central-station.html
So much is happening with the music industry. Distribution channels are changing,
digital rights are changing, and society is changing what they consider is important, and most critically, how they will pay for content. Napster, mp3,and iPods have roots in this change. The music industry can no longer depend on CD sales for profit. The use of physical resources to distribute and the price inflation to the many hands involved with the distribution mechanism is already too expensive and is only getting worse due to rising costs of energy. These costs and the ability to pay for only the songs someone wants is driving the music industry to a new model. RIAA has proven how desperate the music industry has become. Now FINALLY the music industry understands they are doing the equivalent of trying to force sales of “horse whips” when the automobile has become mainstream. Pure genius!
Welcome to the dawn of Music 2.0! What is Music 2.0? We’re still finding out, but it’s not physical media anymore. It’s music that is distributed, filtered, and decided by the public that are listening via Myspace, Podcasts, iTunes etc.
A panel of music businesses gathered yesterday, Feb 26, 2008 to discuss:
“Consider the statements that were made today without controversy:
- DRM on purchased music is dead
- A utility pricing model or flat-rate fee for music might be the way to go
- Ad-supported streaming music sites like iMeem are legitimate players
- Indie music accounts for upwards of 30 percent of music sales
- Napster isn’t losing $70 million per quarter (and is breaking even)
- The music business is a bastion of creativity and experimentation “

I stood up to the 10 degree weather last night and took a few shots of the moon during the eclipse last night. See all the shots on my Smugmug, but here are a few if you missed it. The next one will be December 10, 2010. These shots were taken with my Canon 40D with an old 70-300 lens I had available. I love seeing the golden color from our atmosphere bounce off the moon
Over the years there have been the typical office/cube pranks. Some of us might remember the old tricks where you take a reel of computer tape, break off one side, and put the reel up on the ceiling so that the tape unwinds into a huge mess. More recent ones are packing peanuts, cardboard, aluminum, and now.. well, the ultimate. I’m impressed with what it must have cost:
Every once in a while you will find an interesting Knowledge Base article on Microsoft’s website. I have two personal favorites: hair color of a person icon for a user group turns gray if the group contains more than 500 members (KB281923) and my ultimate favorite: Setting “Squeaky Lobster” performance counter settings
And the hilarious tale of how it became to be: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/06/15/427966.aspx
In the history of Microsoft registry entries, “Squeaky Lobster” is a historical database performance counter that can be set under HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\Services\ESENT\Performance /v “Squeaky Lobster” /t REG_DWORD /d 1

An Einstein ring is a rare phenomena where a distant galaxy is brought into view by a closer galaxy. The closer galaxy acts as a lens to bend the light around what would normally block the light. AAS found three galaxies lined up so that all three are visible. Read more here: http://www.skyandtelescope.com/news/13682267.html
